New Single From The Interrupters Upcoming Album

The Interrupters Remind Us That Ska Is Not Dead with “In The Mirror”

It’s that “skank” upbeat, innit! The Interrupters In The Wild

Ska, with its rhythmic triplets and driving beat. At the very least, it makes you want to dance. At the very most, it makes you want to break things in the most wonderful, wonderful way!

Ska has been a part of the Alt music scene for a generation. Its evolution from a kinder, gentler Jamaican dance genre into the edgier 2 Tone style was made famous by English bands such as The Selector, The Specials, and Madness in the late 70s.

Down But Not Out

Like many misunderstood music genres, Ska has occasionally faded, but has never completely died out. Revived in the 90s by American bands such as No Doubt (Before Gwen Stefani got all “Hella Girl” and whatnot), The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dance Hall Crashers, et al, Ska somehow manages a rebirth every decade and a half or so.

Which leads us to The Interrupters.

Formed in 2011 by lead singer Aimee Interrupter (Née Aimee Allen) and the three Bivona Brothers (Guitarist Kevin, bassist Justin, and drummer Jesse) the quartet takes the genre to an energetic zenith. Their upcoming full length LP, In The Wild, is set to be released on August 5th. Yes, we’ll have a full review upon its release. In the meantime, they’ve released three songs for your listening pleasure:

  1. Anything Was Better
  2. In The Mirror (Watch the video below)
  3. Jailbird

So far, what I’ve heard is excellent. The energy and style of these songs matches their previous effort, Fight The Good Fight. If you’re a fan, it’s definitely worth a listen. Even if you’re not, you’re about to become one!

You can also hear The Interrupters peppered into the Blank Generation Radio playlist.
